Pioneering a New Era

In 1975 a new era for combines began with Sperry-New Holland's Twin Rotor
combine. Sperry-New Holland was a pioneer in rotary combine design, using
two rotors, spinning in opposite directions to move the crop rearward in a
spiraling motion against threshing and separating grates that surround the
rotors. The TR 95 was the largest of the second generation TRs with a 240
bushel grain tank and 225 hp turbocharged Caterpillar diesel engine. The toy
model pictured here is equipped with an 8 row Sperry-New Holland 974 corn
head. The model was custom painted and modified from a 1/80 scale IH 1400 series combine by ERTL.
