CaseIH

Ertl is about to release the collectors edition 1/64 CaseIH AFX 8010.  This model will arrive at CaseIH dealers starting at the end of the week of August 4th or at the start of the following week. Do not forget that Ertl is also offering a dual wheel AFX 8010  "Farm Show " version.  It will be sold at Case IH's toy booth at major farm shows in September. To see the AFX with duals go to http://www.toytractorshow.com/new_toys.htm

Participating CaseIH dealers will be stocking the 7th in a series of 1/32 Steigers from Toy Farmer Magazine this fall.  The latest 1/32  Steiger is the Canadian CO-OP.  This orange Steiger 4wd was sold through CO-OP dealers in Canada during the 1970's.

The CaseIH Precision #19  is the IH Farmall 560 Narrow Diesel with Fenders.   TTS first reported on this model in February.  The Precision 560 is now available at CaseIH dealers.  The 560 was offered by International Harvester from 1958-1963.  This 60 hp tractor was IH's main row crop seller at the end of the fifty's.  This 5 bottom tractor was enhanced with IH's Torque Amplifier and independent power take off.

1/64 Ertl CIH MX285 Magnum Tractor 100000 Edition With Display Case is a CaseIH Dealer Exclusive.   This toy set is a dealer award for the "Stack Up For Spring Sales Promotion" .  This limited variation was produced for CaseIH dealers who sold a certain amount of Ertl toys.  Participating dealers received a case of the stacker 100 K MX Magnums.  The sets come wrapped in plastic, the stacker case has a 100K decal and the MX 285 is on single tires and also has a 100K decal.  This will be a hard variation to find as few were probably produced.  The model pictured in this month report sold for $75.50 on e-bay.  New Holland dealers will see a similar dealer exclusive model this fall when a new 1/16 New Holland tractor replica is released.

The new AFX 8010 is showing up in farm fields across North America as CaseIH begins to introduce its newest Axial-Flow combine.  As previously reported by TTS, in September Ertl will offer a 1/64 Dealer Edition AFX 8010 on single tires  and a Fall Farm Show Edition with duals.  Collectors will also see a highly detailed 1/32 scale AFX 8010 released in September.   This collectors model will offer a 12 row CaseIH 2412 corn head and 30ft grain head.  This will be an impressive 1/32 combine.  Shelf edition AFX 8010 combines will follow later in 2003 in both 1/64 and 1/32.  Click here to visit the TTS New Toy Page to see all of the AFX's.

John Deere

Ertl has released the big new John Deere 2700 seven shank disk-ripper in 1/64 scale.  In 2002 Ertl released the 2700 in 1/16 scale and now 64th collectors have this great tillage piece.  This model is a perfect match for the John Deere 9420 and 9420T tractors.  For many years collectors have asked for larger tillage 1/64 pieces to hook onto 4wds and Ertl has answered with the 2700.  Keep the big tillage coming.

The original die-cast John Deere Tractor produced in 1947 by The Ertl Company planted the seed that grew into the farm toy industry, and has been named to the Toy Industry Association's "Century of Toys" list of the 100 top toys produced in the 20th century.   Among the criteria used by the judges in selecting toys for the list were longevity in the market, incorporation of new technologies, introduction of a new play pattern, consumer demand, creation of an industry trend, and impact on both the toy industry and the children who played with these toys.   Ertl has produced a 1/16 John Deere A with man  replica that is a contemporary rendering that faithfully pays tribute to the original tractor that was crafted more than 50 years ago. This collector piece is boxed with commemorative  details and imprints.  You can purchase this toy at John Deere dealers. TTS reported on the 1/64 commemorative A in the July Farm Toy Report.

A specially boxed Gold John Deere Model A with man has been produced to mark Ertl's selection to the Toy Industry Association's "Century of Toys" list.  The gold A is packaged in a special display box highlighting Ertl's 50 plus years in the farm toy replica business and John Deere's A.  This golden A faithfully pays tribute to the original John Deere "A" tractor crafted by Fred Ertl.  It was this model tractor that launched the Ertl company.  The golden A is available a participating John Deere dealers.

Ertl has released the 1/32 John Deere 6950 with Kemper head in again.  This model was offered in the late 1990's.  There is also a John Deere Marston Trailer in 1/32 now available from Ertl. This model is sold separately of the 6950 but they make a great forage harvesting team.

Just in time for the August corn silage harvest, Ertl has brought back the 1/16 John Deere forage harvester.  This 1/16 model is now available at John Deere dealers and makes a nice attachment for the new John Deere 8210 with fat single tires.

No forage harvester is complete with out a forage wagon.   Ertl has been offering John Deere forage wagons in 1/16 scale since the 1960's.  An all new John Deere forage wagon has just been released to John Deere dealers for 2003.   This wagon hooks onto the new 1/16 John Deere forage harvester and 1/16 tractors.

New Holland

Ertl will offer a 1/32 Collectors Edition CR 970 Combine this September.  This Limited Edition combine will have single tires, 12 row corn head and 30ft grain head.

New Holland has changed colors on the 1/64 CR 960 combine.  The new variation has a deeper gold coloring compared to the 2002 CR 960.  The new CR 960 is pictured on the right and the 2002 brighter yellow CR 960 is pictured on the left. (picture from VanKley Farm Toys)

The newest Ford Precision is a Limited Edition "50th Anniversary" 1953 NAA Ford Golden Jubilee with Rear Blade.  This model has a different front Grill, Red Tiger Engine.  This model  is One-Time Dealer Order!!  That means it is packaged in a unique box with different graphics from other Precision models from Ertl and does not have a Precision #.  Fifty Gold NAA Fords were produced by Ertl and randomly packaged with the regular models.  Look for a special Allis-Chalmers WD-45 to be released latter in 2003 with 50 gold models included with the release.

In July 2002 New Holland dealers received a 1/32 plastic resin TG 285 at the TG tractor introduction.  This model was not offered to collectors.  Ertl has just released a collectors edition TG 255.  This model is available at New Holland dealers and comes in a closed box with a display base.  The Toy Tractor Times first pictured this nice 1/32 model in March 2003.  You can learn more about TG tractors and the 1/32 dealer TG 285 at www.toytractorshow.com/new_holland_tg_tractor.htm

August Question And Answer by Bill Walters RC/Ertl Farm Toy Manager
In March 2001 Bill Walters the Farm Toy Product Manager  began taking part in question and answer forums on Toy Tractor Show.com with toy tractor collectors.  Over the past two plus years we the collector have asked Bill the questions. Starting with the June 2003  TTS Farm Toy Report, Bill will ask us the questions. This new format will allow collectors to see what Ertl is thinking about for future farm toy products and participate in that future by giving their opinion.  This new format will operate on a polling system where you the collector read Bill's question and then respond by voting in a poll.

Feature New Product of the Month

August is the month to make corn silage.  The new 7500 self-propelled forage harvester from John Deere is a great choice for corn harvesting.  The 7500 with a John Deere 710 10 row Kemper head, with 24 ft of capacity, makes short work of any corn crop.  Ertl has just released a 1/64 version of the 7500 featured in full detail in the July Toy Tractor Times Magazine.  Siku offers an impressive 1/32 scale John Deere 7500.  This finally crafted farm toy leaves little to the imagination.  1/32 is a scale that is dominate in Europe and has minimal attention in  North America. As 2003 closes out collectors in North America will begin seeing an expanded range of 1/32 models and several items in 2004 and 2005.  To help show what the 1/32 scale has to offer TTS features the Siku 7500 for the August corn harvest.  Visit Siku's website at http://www.siku.de

International Harvester Farm Toy Wish List

Over the years many International Farm Toys have been offered.  On August 12, 2003 the IH brand name marks its 101st year.  In 1985 International changed its name to Case International and to CaseIH in 1994.  Even though 18 years have passed since the red brand changed names,  International farm toys remain in demand as part of CaseIH's heritage.  Ertl has done an outstanding job over the past few years offering great IH toys like the 1/16 100 Years of IH set, Super M and H tractors, 1256 and tri-stripe 986, Precision 560 corn picker, 706 and 1466, 164 815 combine, 06 historical set and Golden Demonstrator 56 historical set.  There are still many IH toys collectors are looking for.   Below is an IH wish list of items most often mentioned on TTS Toy Talk.

TTS-Times Notes

The August Toy Tractor Times feature 101 years of IH in August.  TTT's popular   "Down on the Model Farm" article will continue to look at display building.  This month it will talk about posing 1/64 tractors on a display.  To stick with the IH theme we will use IH tractors and literature to create farm scenes.  The August issue will also feature the rare 1985 International Harvester 1985 buyers guide in Gordy Schultz's Literature Rack column.  Dave Tallon will give tips on painting up a 1/64 McCormick tractor and Dan Adamson will cover 1/64 IH variations.  Look for other interesting articles on 1/64, 1/16 and Precision farm toys.  The Toy Tractor Times Magazine can be found at www.toytractortimes.com .
