Another new Spec-Cast high feature tractor is the wide front Oliver Super 88.  The Super 88 is one of the most popular Oliver tractors.

The wide front high feature models are rolling out of Spec-Cast.  The third new model is the LP Minneapolis-Moline U.  Minneapolis-Moline was a LP tractor leader for many years.

Buhler-Versatile

In Ertl has released two Genesis Buhler-Versatile tractors in 1/32 and 1/64.  Scale Models released a 1/64 Buhler-Versatile 4wd.

In July Ertl will release a 1/32 scale Buhler Versatile 4WD with triples and one with  duals.  The 1/32 4wds will come in a box with decals for you to make it one of these models: 2290, 2335, 2360, 2375, 2425

The 1/32 and 1/64 Buhler Versatile Genesis models come in a box with decals for you to make it one of these models: 2145, 2160, 2180, or 2210.

Scale Models is producing the 1/64 Buhler Versatile 4WD with duals.  It will come in a box with decals for you to make it one of these models: 2290, 2335, 2360, 2375, 2425. A total of 2,000 Buhler-Versatile 4wds have been produced.

All of these units have a decal sheet with all the available model numbers.  This was directed by Buhler.

Buhler is buying all of these units and distributing them through their dealer network and various outlets like VanKley Farm Toys at http://www.vankleyfarmtoys.com/ .

CaseIH

Spec-Cast will offer three new CaseIH pulling tractors in 1/16 scale.  The first in the series is Roberts Pulling Team's CaseIH MX270 Magnum called "Big Boy II.  The Super Stock Puller is made of plastic resin and has driver John Evens behind the wheel.

On June 14, 2004 TTS announced in the farm toy news that Scale Models would offer a 1/16 Steiger 2200.  The 2200 is the second classic Steiger from Scale Models.  It follows the 1/16 Steiger #1.  The Steiger 2200 was produced in the 1960's and it best known as part of the V grill series.

CaseIH is celebrating its Farmall history with a new two piece set.  The set will include a 1/16th and 1/64th scale Farmall H.

In 2003 Ertl started a new tradition in marking CaseIH tractor history with a 1/16 boxed set including the 1963 IH 706 and 806 tractors.  Ertl will follow the 06 set in 2004 with the long requested 60 series.  Collectors have wanted a newly tooled 60 series tractor in 1/16 scale for a number of years.  The boxed set will include the 1958 460 and 560.

Collector Edition “High Feature”  IH Farmall 460/560 2 Piece Set
- ALL-NEW Body engine & detail tooling
- 460 Diesel, 560 Gas
- Rear Precision Tires & Rims

This Spec-Cast is staying busy offering unique and detailed farm equipment models in plastic resin.  This new collectors medium allows Spec-Cast to produce items collectors want but that will not sell in the big numbers needed for die-cast farm toys.  Spec-Cast has announced its first 1/16 scale resin implement will be the International Harvester 80 pull type combine.  This nicely detailed model should be a popular seller.

An era of CaseIH combine history will come to a close in July 2004.  In 1927 International Harvester opened its combine plant in East Moline Illinois.  Every red combine since 1927 has been produced at the East Moline plant.  Since 1977 over 100,000 Axial-Flow combines have rolled of the line at East Moline.  The the size of large modern combines have out grown the plant.  The CaseIH 2388 nearly touches the factory's ceiling as it rolls down the line.  CNH will transfer the 2377 and 2388 Axial-Flow combine production to the Grand Island, Nebraska plant.  The 2377, 2388 and AFX 8010 combines will be produced together in Nebraska.

To commemorate the historic East Moline Plants 77 years of producing red combines CaseIH will offer a 1/32 2388 from Ertl.

1/32 Case IH 2388 “Collector East Moline Plant Commemorative” Axial Flow Combine
-Gold Inscription 1927-2004
-Special Packaging
with a limited production run

TTS-Times first reported in the March Toy Tractor Times that Ertl would release a 1/32 European version of the CaseIH AFX8010.  This new model will have a European style grain bin and offer a 30ft grain head.  Look for this model later this year.

The big CaseIH summer surprise is the new 1/32 CHX620 Self Propelled Forage Harvester.  CaseIH has sold a self propelled chopper for several years in Germany and England.  The new CHX620 shares a common platform in NH FX 60.  Ertl will produce a 1/32 replica of the CHX620 that will share a detail level with the 1/32 AFX 8010 combine.  The CHX620 will have both a hay head and corn head.

The latest 1/32 Steiger 4wd is the 500hp STX 500.  This powerful CaseIH replica will have a removable front blade and the outside duals can be taken off.  This is the first time Ertl has offered a toy tractor with removable duals.

CaseIH is releasing a new 1/32 STX 450 Steiger with a chisel plow.  The STX 450 has a removable front end blade and the outside dual tires are removable.

CaseIH dealers will carry the new 1/32 J&M Grain Cart this fall.  This model will also be offered in New Holland blue with J&M decals and to John Deere dealers as a Frontier model.  These new carts are a perfect match for the 1/32 combines released by Ertl in 2003.

CaseIH is celebrating its modern X series with a new 1/64 collectors set.

1/64 Collector  CaseIH “X” 5 Piece Set
-SPX4410 Sprayer
-STX500 Track
-MX285 100,000th Magnum (Actual 100K Unit)
-MXU125
-AFX8010 Combine

Ertl has paired up a 1/64 CaseIH STX 375HD Steiger 4wd with a new 1/64 J&M grain cart.  The J&M grain cart is a newly tooled 1/64 implement and will also be offered as a Frontier cart through John Deere dealers.

This is the first time the CaseIH STX 375 4wd has been offered with duals in 1/64.  The previous 1/64  STX 375 came with triple tires.

The next 1/64 Farmall is the 450.  Look for this summer surprise at participating CaseIH dealers.

CaseIH dealers will have a new tractor and wagon set in 1/64 this fall with a Farmall 350 and barge wagon.

John Deere

In case you missed it in the TTS May Farm Toy Report, Ertl previewed the new 1/64 John Deere 4920 Self-Propelled sprayer at the summer toy show.  The 4920 farm toy has a replica  120 ft boom and measured chemical tank.  It has a has a windowed cab with a gps (Green-Star) bubble and flood lights.  The new 1/64 model will be released later this year.

The John Deere 75 Piece dealership set is now out.  The set includes the popular Ertl dealership building and a John Deere 7820, plastic 8520 and 4440 tractors.  Implements in the set are the 2700 ripper, hay rake, baler, gravity wagon and barge wagon.

The John Deere 75 Piece dealership has two special tractor inside.  That is the John Deere 3" 8520 and 7820.  The 3" 8520 is just like the 8420 sold at Wal-Mart but it is the first time Ertl has offered a small scale 8520 since the real tractors introduction in August 2001. (Look for a die-cast 1/64 8520 to appear in a special 5 piece set from Ertl this fall that will include clear window tractors. The second special tractor is the 7820. It has a clear window cab and a 3pt hitch just like the 2003 Fall Farm Show 7920.  The new 7820 sports large European style single tires and a painted gps dome on the cab.

The John Deere 9620 collectors edition is now at John Deere dealerships.  This new 1/16 replica of John Deere's 500 hp 4wd features clear windows in the cab and is packaged with a chrome 1/64 9620.

New Holland

Scale Models has announced two new TJ 4wd models.  This fall Scale Models will release a 1/32 and 1/16 scale TJ450 with the new NH swoosh decal.

The big surprise from Case-New Holland in June 2004 was the announcement of a 1/32 New Holland FX 60 Self-Propelled Forage Harvester.  This model will share similar detail that the 1/32 CR970 combine had.  It will have both a hay and corn head.  Look for another New Holland hay item from Ertl later in 2004.

Ertl will release a new 1/32 J&M Grain Cart in New Holland blue this fall.  The cart will have J&M decals.

June Live Chat with Bill Walters RC/Ertl Farm Toy Manager
Live chat is back.  Live Chat started in 2001, where collectors talked live with Bill Walters from Ertl on TTS Toy Talk.   Below is a transcript from the two hour long June 23, 2004 Live Chat.
J.Hasert: Hi Bill

Bill Walters: Hello everyone, thanks for coming.

2nd Alarm Farms: evenin' Bill

Farmguy: howdy Bill

Tim Mattson: hi Bill

1/64th scale farm toys: thanx for takin time out of ur schedule to participate in this

SuperM: hello bill

1/64th scale farm toys: we appreciate it very much

Oliver fan: alright

MF 8280 BOY: Yes thanks Bill for taking part

Bill Walters: Glad I can chat with all of you. Hope I can answer some questions.

Oliver fan: ok

SuperM: thanks Bill

Oliver fan: 1/16 AGCO- Are there any plans for a M-M Precision or another shelf model?

Bill Walters: No current plans, although Jason Hasert has given us some good info.

Bill Walters: We will try to make one payout in the near future. Probably 2006...

Oliver fan: I will be looking forward to seeing that.

Oliver fan: You previously mentioned using the Oliver 1950-T casting to make a 1750...

Oliver fan: any plans to still do this?

Bill Walters: Yes, I have found a 1750 and will be working on this shortly. We

Bill Walters: just have to make sure it is correct to do a 1750 from our casting....

Oliver fan: sounds good

Oliver fan: Any plans for another A-C Precision like a D-21?

Bill Walters: There are plans for additional AGCO Precisions. Sorry, but I can't give

Bill Walters: out specific models....

Oliver fan: I understand

Oliver fan: on to 1/64

Oliver fan: Does ERTL have any plans for a White planter?

Bill Walters: No....

Oliver fan: I really liked the Hesston haying set, any more plans for Hesston?

Bill Walters: It is hard to justify doing implements. The volume is not there.

Bill Walters: We'll keep trying to find one that makes sense. Nothing coming out soon....

Oliver fan: sounds good

Oliver fan: Is there a possibility of making a MF 1155 w/duals?

Bill Walters: Yes, that is easy.

Oliver fan: I think it would sell well

Oliver fan: Many requests on TTS for an older MF combine, like a 750 or 860....

Oliver fan: can you look into this?

Bill Walters: Yes, we will look into this, although AGCO is very interested in having a modern

Bill Walters: Gleaner produced. We are still discussing how to make this payout.

Bill Walters: If I submitted a vintage MF I would probably be turned down....

Oliver fan: that would be great to see another Gleaner

Oliver fan: alright

Oliver fan: that is all I got, thanks Bill

MF 8280 BOY: we know Ertl is bringing out some haying models in 1/32 but can you be anymore

MF 8280 BOY: specific than that I would love a pull type forager

Bill Walters: We just introduced the NH and Case IH SP Forage Harvesters in 1/32nd.

Bill Walters: I have another 1/32 piece of hay equipment planned for  2004, along

Bill Walters: with a 1/64th piece as well. Sorry, can't tell you more than that.....

MF 8280 BOY: That's great news the Case and NH SPFH are great, I think they will sell very well

MF 8280 BOY: Will Ertl be bringing out the European NH CR 960 like the case AFX and JD?

Bill Walters: That depends on whether New Holland Europe wants it. We already have

Bill Walters: the NH CX  Conentional Combine out in 1/32nd, so the question is whether we really need two

Bill Walters: 1/32nd NH combines for Europe. Time will tell.....

MF 8280 BOY: Last question Will Ertl be bringing out anymore 1/32 tractors this year

Bill Walters: We still have the Toy Farmer 1/32 MF tractors, maybe something else.....

MF 8280 BOY: Cool That is Great News Well that's all I have thanks Bill and Jay and talk to you

deere farmer: will we have any chance on a tiling machine

deere farmer: or some kind of tiling equipment

Bill Walters: Doubtful, unless I do something resin. No company has asked me to

Bill Walters: produce any tiling equipment. I'm not actively looking.....

deere farmer: what about a dmi ecolo tiger

Bill Walters: We've done an Eco Tiger in 1/16th and the larger MRX in 1/64th.

Bill Walters: What are you specifically looking for?????

Oliver fan: I'd like to see a Glencoe ripper, that'd be neat

deere farmer: ok last one......will we ever a John Deere 9660 combine

Bill Walters: We would have to do additional tooling to do a 9660. Maybe someday, but not

Bill Walters: anytime soon. Too many other projects....

deere farmer: what about off brand tillage tools...like Krause or Sun fFower

Oliver fan: yes good question

Bill Walters: I can't keep up with JD, CNH and AGCO. I have to prioritize on what

Bill Walters: I can sell the most of. The JD and Case IH dealers support the best....

deere farmer: well doesnt have to be a big production....couldnt you do like you did for h&s

Bill Walters: I can sell the most of. The JD and Case IH dealers support the best....

deere farmer: well doesn't have to be a big production....couldn't you do like you did for h&s

Bill Walters: The H&S units used existing tools. If you know I can produce a Krause or

Bill Walters: Sunflower from existing tools, please let me know....

Dairy Farmer of HHH: Probably the 550 JD mulch master

1/64th scale farm toys: what about the JD disking the 7520 set

deere farmer: yea that's what i was thinking...

SuperM: that's what I was thinking

deere farmer: or the John Deere Chisel plow

Dairy Farmer of HHH: Sunflower coulter chisel

JohnDeere 8820: Or the John Deere Field Cultivator

Oliver fan: we could use any kind of Sunflower tillage tool

Bill Walters: It would also depend on if I could get a license, and get it approved.....

racin: and Bill's notebook is quickly filling with notes as he frantically writes...

AGCOfan: Hello Bill

AGCOfan: Has Ertl thought of selling 1/64 parts such as tires, decals and other add

Oliver fan: would be great if AGCO would give licensing for that

AGCOfan: parts in packages the same way and place toys are sold?

AGCOfan: Has Ertl thought of selling 1/64 parts such as tires, decals and other add

Oliver fan: would be great if AGCO would give licensing for that

AGCOfan: parts in packages the same way and place toys are sold?

JohnDeere 8820: That would be a great idea

Bill Walters: Not really, the time involved is not worth it. A smaller operation like Standi,

Bill Walters: etc.. can be much more efficient. Plus, bringing in little parts from China is

Bill Walters: not worth it....

AGCOfan: Any chance of a pull type sprayer such as Hardi, Redball or others?

Bill Walters: No current plans.

AGCOfan: Was the Ag-Chem a good seller? If so any plans for new Ag-Chem or Loral?

Bill Walters: The AG-Chem units were pretty good. Unfortunately with the changes

Bill Walters: to the real units, we would have to re-tool both......

Bill Walters: AGCO is not interested in re-releasing the models we've produced....

SuperM: Are there any new Farm Country models such as barns or sheds planned?

Bill Walters: We have not been able to get the support from Farm Retail to justify

Bill Walters: tooling additional buildings. We're looking at alternatives.....

SuperM: Is there a chance that Ertl would ever re-tool the 66 series with the new 06

SuperM: series tires?

Bill Walters: We do have this in our long range plan.....

SuperM: what year might we see this?

Bill Walters: Before 2010....

SuperM: Is there any new New Holland hay equipment in store for this year?

Bill Walters: Besides the 1/32 NH SP Forage Harvester, nothing else I can say....

SuperM: Is there any vintage implements in store for this year?

Bill Walters: Sorry.....

SuperM: Why hasn't Ertl produced any John Deere 5400 series or small utility tractors?

Bill Walters: Since I'm assuming you're talking about 1/64th, the answer is volume.

Bill Walters: Everyone likes the larger horsepower tractors better, although we are

SuperM: Just one more suggestion for AGCO fan and the sprayers, couldn't you just use

Bill Walters: producing the Case IH MXU tractor in 1/64th. We'll see how that goes.....

SuperM: the old yellow and red sprayer and market it as a red ball or Hardi?

2nd Alarm Farms: hello Bill, I was wondering if a retooled CaseIH 2388 is planned 1/64

Bill Walters: It is still being discussed with Case IH.....

2nd Alarm Farms: the detail on the new tractors is incredible, any chance for more detailed

2nd Alarm Farms: tires and duals.....especially front ?

Bill Walters: We are still talking about Precision 1/64th. This is an area we are

Bill Walters: looking at. Nothing is going to happen in 2004. Stay tuned......

2nd Alarm Farms: any chance for 1/64 draper heads on newer released combines ?

Bill Walters: Good suggestion on the draper head. I'll put that on my list...

1/64th scale farm toys: 1st want to say thanks to you n Bill for coming

1/64th scale farm toys: Bill will ertl make the Case 70 or 90 series 4wd

Bill Walters: Glad to be here....

Bill Walters: Nothing currently planned. Another good suggestion.......

Bill Walters: Other than the 1470 we've already done....

1/64th scale farm toys: how about the JD 8430 n 8630 or the 8440 n 8640 in a set ?

Bill Walters: Another good suggestion. You guys have enough projects for me

Bill Walters: for the next 5 years already.....

1/64th scale farm toys: any plans on a JD 7720 or 8820 combine

Bill Walters: Sorry, wish I could tell you......

1/64th scale farm toys: does Ertl plan on making a D-21 with Hiniker cab n duals

Bill Walters: Again, I can't tell you about anything we haven't announced. Sorry....

Farmguy: Hey Bill, is Ertl planning on re-releasing the dealership or tractor pull set

Bill Walters: We'll look at both and see if it makes sense. Maybe I can get TSC interested...

Farmguy: ok thanks & also when will we see more Ford equip. like a 7000 or a 9600

Bill Walters: We will have to talk to Ford about a license for these. Lately Ford has

Bill Walters: wanted to do their own replicas, especially cars/trucks (Beanstalk).

Bill Walters: Kind of a different arrangement....

Farmguy: ok thanks for the answers ,nice talking w/ you thanks Bill!!!

Tim Mattson: Any chance for smaller AGCO tractors like the RT series?

Bill Walters: Slim chance. Again volume is the key here. AGCO dealers don't support

Bill Walters: toys like the other dealers. I can't move enough volume through TSC

Bill Walters: and other accounts to make these units payout.

Tim Mattson: Any plans for a Farmall letter series set in 1/64?

Bill Walters: We're getting closer. We already have the H & M. I can probably get

Bill Walters: and C from the 100 and 200. All I really need is a "B".....

JohnDeere 8820: Any chance of Ertl making a 1/16th Snowblower

Bill Walters: I'm assuming you're talking about a push type snowblower. We already

Bill Walters: do a tractor mounted snowblower on our JD 4310 tractor....

Bill Walters: Nothing currently planned. No request for this before you.....

JohnDeere 8820: No, a blower for on behind a tractor such as a 1/16th JD 7810

JohnDeere 8820: How about a stripper header for a 1/64th combines?

Bill Walters: Another great suggestion on the stripper header... Thanks!!!

JohnDeere 8820: Any chance for a John Deere WA -17 Four wheel drive vintage tractor?

Bill Walters: JD has issues with the Wagner tractors. Don't hold your breath....

JohnDeere 8820: Or how about an industrial John Deere 8020 Four wheel drive tractor?

Bill Walters: Another great suggestion. Thanks.....

JohnDeere 8820: And how about a plow for the 1/64th 8020 already out?

Bill Walters: Haven't found a real one... Not high on our priority list.....

JohnDeere 8820: One last question, How is the Deere Air Drill coming along?

Bill Walters: It is in tooling....

Jarrod: What about a 30' no till drill

JohnDeere 8820: Thanks Jay and Bill, I am done.

Oliver fan: alright thanks Nathan

Bill Walters: Any specific brand or scale? Assuming 1/64th....

1/64th scale farm toys: i want one in 64th

Jarrod: no specific brand. preferably 1/64

1/64th scale farm toys: gr8 plains or tye

Oliver fan: tye would be the best!!

Bill Walters: Ok, we'll see what's out there and see if it makes sense....

J.Hasert: A JD 455 drill at 30ft would be good.

Jarrod: a large disc in 1/64?

1/64th scale farm toys: I would buy one

Jarrod: a large disc in 1/64?

1/64th scale farm toys: i would buy one

Joel White: yes a JD 455 would be aswome!

Jarrod: the 30' drills are popular in this part of the country

1/64th scale farm toys: even 36 ft with markers

Bill Walters: We have heard the comment about a new disk. Thanks!!!!

Dairy Farmer of HHH: Bill I was wondering if you could possibly re-release the old harvestore silo

Bill Walters: Anything's possible. I'll see what can be done.......

Dairy Farmer of HHH: also would it be possible for JD loaders or new skid steer w/ attachments in 64

Bill Walters: I'll see what we can do... A 1/64 skidsteer is pretty small....

Dairy Farmer of HHH: thanks bill That be cool to have attachments

Bill Walters: We have issues with small parts and choke hazards.....

deere farmer: ok....sound guards.....any chance on a 4955

deere farmer: or some thing 4x55

Bill Walters: In our long range plan......

1/64th scale farm toys: 4630 , 4640 n a 4955 like the 4430 set ?

Bill Walters: Keep buying the 4430/4440/4450 set and I can tool more.....

deere farmer: and any chance on a 14x0 combine

deere farmer: like 1420, 1440, 1460, or 1480

Bill Walters: We'll see what we can do... I like these combines.....

racin: featherlite style trailer or a 18 foot or so open car hauler

Bill Walters: Maybe down the road, nothing in the near future......

racin: basic "farm cars"

racin: you don't see mustangs and vettes on farms

racin: maybe something like Luminas and Taurses and intrepids and so forth

Bill Walters: I'm not allowed to tool cars, that's an entirely different part of our Company..

racin: Johnny lightning

racin: they do great work

Bill Walters: Trucks I can get away with, cars are too far of a stretch for my bosses.....

Joel White: Will we see some Larger packages of cattle like 50 and 100 cows in a package.

Bill Walters: Only if some accounts steps up and buys some big quantities....

Joel White: and will we see a New Holland TV 145 Bi Directional tractor with loader?

Bill Walters: I have not had a request from NH for a TV.....

Bill Walters: Jason, we need to do a survey on 1/64th ACs. Do they want a D-21, 7000

Bill Walters: or other model #s?????

scalefarmer: any chance we could see smaller 4wd's, like a JD 9120 or CIH STX 275?

Bill Walters: All new tooling Scalefarmer. Will have to look at sales projections....

scalefarmer: Or some older AC stuff?

Bill Walters: JD and Case IH always want us to do the big horsepower.....

scalefarmer: implements & tractors?

farmtoyguy: i want to see an ac 7040,heston rect. baler, JD 946 disc mower, H& s bale throw

Bill Walters: We'll get Jason to run a survey on vintage AC tractors....

J.Hasert: Greg P. CIH ask too. Farm guy too. Post and hopefully bill can answer

Bill Walters: Thanks for the suggestions....

Case-IH Farmer: how about a retooled 86 series IH tractor??

GregP: How about some updated construction equipment?

farmtoyguy: a h&S bale throw rack CIH & NH mx & TG 210 & 2030
