The First Rotary Combine

In 1975 a new era for combines began with Sperry-New Holland's Twin Rotor combine. Sperry-New Holland was a pioneer in rotary combine design, using two rotors, spinning in opposite directions to move the crop rearward in a spiraling motion against threshing and separating grates that surround the rotors. The TR 70 was the first rotary combine on the market in the mid-1970's.  The TR 70 was available with all the top features.  Operators had their pick of a 168 hp Caterpillar diesel engine or Turbo Charged Ford disel rated at 145 hp.  Grain heads were available from 13ft to 22ft and corn head option included 4,5 and 6 row units. The cab was an industry leader in 1975 with is spacious interior and wrap around windshield.  In 1978 Britains offered a 1/32 TR modeled after the TR 70.
