Combines - 9600
In 1989 the new 9000 Maximizer combines were introduced. The 9400, 9500 and 9600 were an immediate hit with farmers. Most Deere's of customers liked the centered cab and engine introduced by the company nearly 50 years earlier in the 55 model. The location of functional units, like the cylinder, concave,
straw walkers, cleaning fan and shoe, have a heritage dating back nine
decades to the stationary thresher. The 9600 with a 240 bushel capacity and
253 hp engine can easily harvest more than 25 bushels of corn per minute. The
entire capacity of the Maximizer combines is 15-20% greater than the Titan
II models they replaced. The 9000 series cab and controls was one of the
most favorable improvements with customers. In 1997 the 9000 models were sold with 50th anniversary decals celebrating John Deere's 50 years in the
self-propelled combine market. In 1989 ERTL offered a 1/28 collectors edition 9600 and 9500 self edition as well a 1/64 Maximizer. 50th anniversary decals can be purchased from Mark Wikner at 2626 Rownd St. Cedar Falls, IA 50613 or at decalman@cfu.net.
