Equipment - 7200 Corn Planter
Introduced in 1986 the 7200 Max-Emerge 2 front-folding planters stretched out to 24 rows covering 60 feet of ground. Many options were available from John Deere on front folding 8,12,16,18 and 24 row 7200 models. Planting wide has a lot going for it when a farmer has allot of ground to cover. All folding 7200's offered convenient front fold transport from the cab, that required little more than using electric switches and hydraulic levers to change from field to road position. A folded planter follows the tractor like a two wheel trailer.

The planting advantage to the max-Emerge 2 is the vacuum meter which provides improved accuracy for planting corn, beans, peanuts, cotton, Milo, sorghum and other row crops. Another plus of the max-Emerge planters is their ability to gauge depth at the exact point where the seed enters the ground. Other companies planters gauge the depth at the press wheel that is placed 2 to 3 feet behind the point where the seed enters the soil. The John Deere press wheels follow the disc openers like a shadow closing the trench immediately after the seed is planted. Max-Emerge planters have been one of the top selling planter brands in North America for three decades. The current generation of John Deere planters are sold as the 1700 Max-Emerge Plus models.
