Oliver 7800 Combine
The Oliver 7800 replaced the 5555. It had a 52in. cylinder and body, a 170 bushel grain tank, a 155hp. V8 engine, 7,800 sq.in. separating area and 5,126 sq.in. cleaning area for a total weight of 15,731 lbs. A new 7800 in 1974 cost $21,347. Hydrostatic transmission was $1,317. There was also a "7800" SP Corn and Soybean combine with a weight of 15,581 lbs and a price tag of $21,444. Header choices were 13,15,18,20,and 22 feet grain heads; 4 or 6 narrow and 3 or 4 wide corn heads and 13 or 15 feet pickup heads. The Model "706N" six row shown on the 1/64 models above was $7144 in 1972. The 7800 was produced from 1971-75 and was offered in Oliver green and Sumac red. It matched the Minneapolis-Moline combine of the same vintage [1971-73] with the same cylinder size. After 1973, White, the parent company dropped the 3 names--Oliver, Cockshutt and Minneapolis-Moline and used their own name, White, to cover all combines. Tom Toohill at mtoohill@advancenet.net has scratch built 7800 combines in green and red from plastic resin in 1/64 scale.
