Versatile 9682

Debuting in the summer of 1997, New Holland 82 series 4wds were built to tame the largest fields.  The 9682's six-cylinder, turbocharged Cummins engine wields 360 horses of lugging power and its Quadra-Sync transmission provides smooth shifting with in a narrow range.  New Holland designed some of the industry's best convince features into the 82 series, because the large-operation farmer has enough concerns. The 9682's Hi-Flo hydraulics adjust flow to the implement in use and the situation or field conditions at hand, whether in the middle of the row or lifting to turnaround. A superior cab provides full view of the field and the deluxe instrument panel gauges keep the operator appraised of functions from electrical system voltage to wheel slip, PTO speed and engine hours. Serviceability was even enhanced on models like the 9682 with a hinged front grille, swing-out coolers and sight gauges. The 9682 and other 82series models were the last New Holland 4wds to bear the Versatile name. Versatile appeared in small letters under the New Holland name through late 1998 and was dropped from the 4wds. The late series 82's and the 84 series only carried the New Holland name until the line was sold to Buhler Industries in 2001 and the Versatile name and red colors returned to the popular 4wd line. In July 1997 Ertl released a 1/32 9682 that reflected the hardy nature of the real tractor. This 1/32 model was painted New Holland blue, had dual wheels and featured a New Holland decal also bearing the Versatile name. Scale Models offered a 1/64 9682 with triples.
