McCormick
New 200-300hp horsepower McCormick series of tractors know as the ZTX's
The McCormick brand is a true classic in the manufacturing of agricultural equipment. From the world's first ever, practical reaper in 1831 through the long and distinguished line of tractors that followed, the McCormick badge epitomized quality, craftsmanship and innovative design. Now the name that pioneered a transformation in agricultural efficiency for more than a century and a half is reborn. McCormick Tractors International Ltd, the new farm equipment business based at Doncaster was formed as a result of the formation of CNH Global NV in May 1999. In order to finalize the merger of Case Corp. and New Holland CNH had to divest the Doncaster, England plant that produced the CX and MXC CaseIH series of tractors.
International Harvester opened its largest British factory at Doncaster in Yorkshire in 1938. This plant supplied IH was its European tractor line through 1985 producing famous models such as first truly British-built tractor, a Farmall M in 1951, first British-built International crawler tractor, the 40 h.p. BTD-6, BWD6 tractor, the 55 h.p. B-450, 62 1/2 h.p. B-614, 3500 Loader Backhoe, and 84 and 85 series utility tractors. 1985 marked a major milestone in the history of Doncaster Plant. In order to increase its market share, Case, through its parent company, Tenneco Inc., purchased selected assets of the International Harvester Company including the Doncaster plant. The assembly of 1896 and 2096 tractors transferred from the Case Racine Plant to Doncaster in 1986. IH 85 series tractors remained in production and latter became the Case International 95 series. The 95 series became the 4200 series and ultimately the C series in 1997. In that same year production of the European Maxxum Range is transferred to Doncaster plant. In 1998 CaseIH introduced the CX series and MX C series with 150/170 HP MX MAXXUM series Tractors. In 1999 CaseIH had to sell the historic Doncaster plant under its merger agreement with New Holland. In 2000 the Argo group of Italy acquired the CaseIH C, CX, MX C and MX Maxxum line to finalize the CNH merger.
Argo formed McCormick Tractors International Limited with a tractor product line including the MTX Range - 118 to 176hp, MC Range - 84 to 115hp, CX Range - 53 to 102hp and C Series - 53 to 102hp. The McCormick names links the proud IH tradition of the past to this modern 21st century line of tractors. MCcormick tractors are available through Vermeer dealers in the U.S.A and CaseIH dealers in Canada and Europe.
