Maxxum
In the early 1980's Case engineers began developing a new mid-range tractor to replace the aging David Brown design. Case engineers based the new tractor series from their Case 580 backhoe frame. After the 1985 merger of Case and International Harvester engineers from both companies worked on the final developments of the Maxxum tractors. The Maxxum series was designed to be a World Tractor. It was designed to work on the narrow roads of Europe and to work hard in the large fields of the United States. The Maxxum line was introduced to farmers in 1989. The hp range included the 77hp 5120, 86 hp 5130 and the 94hp 5140. In 1992 the Maxxum line was upgraded to the 5200 series with the 112hp 5250 leading the mid range series. In 1994 Case IH celebrated the success of the Maxxum line with a limited series of specially painted 50,000th edition Maxxum Tractors. Ertl offered several 1/16 and 1/64 5100 and 5200 Maxxum Tractors including a 1/16 special edition 50,000th 5250 and shelf edition 5140.
