Lion 1000

The Lion 1000 had a short run in Steiger green. New for 1986 the 375 hp Lion 1000 fell victim to the sagging Ag market. In late 1986 Tenneco purchased  Steiger and merged the popular 4wd line with its Case International tractor line. From 1987-1989 Case International offered the Lion 1000 as the Steiger 9180 Lion. The Lion was also offered as the Case International 9180 from 1987-1990 when it was replaced by the 9280. Scale Models made a special edition Lion 1000 in 1/32 scale for Steiger employees when the company was sold to Tenneco in 1986. The Farwell Employee Edition Lion is one of the rarest Steiger toys. The 1/32 sells for around $875.
