National Farm Toy Show Display #8

Jonathan Klawonn placed eighth at the 2001 National Farm Toy Show. Jonathan's display represents the Illinois country side in the early 1970's. Fall harvest is in full swing. Corn pickers and combines are at work in the fields. Several small farms are represented by various brands of equipment at work.  Jacki Klawonn's we see how the small farms become part of one 1,200 acre farm 3 years later. The classic barns, silo's, corn cribs, houses and fences are cleared from the land to make way for the large equipment used in the modern era. Here in Jonathan's big combine pick four rows or corn and harvest 13ft feat of beans at one time. Picked ear corn is still flowing from the fields. One Jonathan's top custom pieces on the display is a Bearcat mixer mill pictured in the lower center photo. Jonathan also constructed a classic John Deere dealership, roadside motor lodge, cemetery complete with grounds keeper and push mower as well as wooden grain elevator common in the mid-west during this time period.

Click on these pictures to see how the landscape changes 30 years in the future in the year 2001. The road is the same but all the buildings and fields are much larger.
