My all time favorite toy tractor is the Allis-Chalmers 8550. It was the
first "big" tractor we had on our farm. It was also the first true
Allis-Chalmers 4wd. Allis-Chalmers made the Sugar Baby 4wds but very few
were sold. They also had the Steiger built 440 with the Allison engines but
those had bad reputations too. As our farm grew we decided to move up to a
4wd to cover more ground in 1982. At 253 hp we pulled an 8 bottom IH plow
with it, 38 foot Wil-Rich field cultivator and a Krause disk. Our family
always ran orange and red equipment. After the 1985 merger of Allis-Chalmers and Deutz the 4wd was models were gone. In 1998 we traded the 8550
for a more modern Case IH 9350. I was very happy to find this custom 1/64
8550 at a toy show in Maryland.

I also collect Allis-Chalmers and Case1/16 toys.
