John Deere 5820
The John Deere 5820 packs a 275 hp engine that provides the power to speed through high tonnage corn and hay. The 5820 was the largest of the John Deere Time-Mizer self-propelled forage harvesters. A smaller 210 hp 5720 was also available. The 5820 came with the exclusive John Deere Dura-Drum cutterhead. The segmented knife cutterhead cuts thick crop mat into a clean uniform silage. The 5820 was the first John Deere chopper available with the Titan Sound-Gard cab. The 5820 was available with a 4 row crop head, 4 row all crop head and a 7ft hay head. The 5820 replaced the older style 5400 chopper in 1980. Well known custom builder Gordy Schultz scratch built a one of a kind 1/64 5820 from plastic resin.
