1790 Planter
1/64 1790 16/31 Planter The all new 1790 planter from John Deere set to debut in fields in the spring of 2003 offers a wide variety of planting improvements for the 21st century and marks the biggest change in John Deere planters since the introduction of the Max Emerge line in the mid-1970's. The big change in the 1790 planter is the time savings it brings to the planting crunch. John Deere developed a new Central Commodity System (CCS) Seed Delivery system that allows a 12 row 1790 to carry up to 70 bushels of seed and a 16 row model 100 bushels. This new planting system ends the time loss of stopping to refill hopper after hopper on big planters. The 1790 CCS also has new innovation in its planting method. The 1790 uses air to gently carry the seed to the ground. Pressurized air carries seed from the CCS tank to the row unit, where it is deposited in a mini-hopper. These new 1790's are well suited to plant 30 inch corn and 15 inch beans and back and forth in a day with a switch of a button the 15 inch bean units lift up or drop down in a flash. In November 2002 Ertl will release a 16/31 1790 planter in 1/64 scale. This model should prove to be popular as it is the first new 1/64 John Deere planter since 1986 from Ertl in 1/64 scale. The markers are a great improvement on the new 1790 over the 7200. The markers on the 1790 work very well. The row units raise and lower very easily. The new planters hooks to modern Ertl 1/64 John Deere tractors and is a nice match for the 1/64 8420 or 8520T.
