Tall Corn Farms

This model farm represents a large grain farm that would work between
3,000 and 5,000 acres of corn, soybeans, sugar beats and winter wheat. The
farmer and his family run the farm with aid of hired hands. This farm
grows grains to be sold to large grain elevators, who sell the grain
domestically and overseas. Beats are processed into sugar. Several
tractors, combines and trucks are used to keep the farm ahead of the
weather and the season. Large tillage equipment is used to prepare the
fields quickly for planting. Four wheel drive tractors at 425 hp and high
horse power f.w.a 235 hp tractors help get the crop in the fields. Notice
all the tires on the tractors that help put all their power to the ground
while minimizing soil compaction. The large combine pictured cuts 12 rows
of corn at a time and has a hopper extension to help move the machine
quickly across the large fields. Four tractor-trailer trucks help keep the
combines moving and the on farm grain storage facilities full.
