The IH 966 was an International tractor that need not take a back seat to any of the other 66 series models. The 966 was rated at 100 hp powered by a naturally aspirated engine. The big 414 cu. in. engine was a durable work horse over its entire range and delivers torque rise that made it number one in its class. the IH Torque Amplifier transmission, with 16 forward speeds assures the operator of the rate travel rate for any job on the farm and field. The 966 design and features were similar to the bigger 66 series tractors. A narrow front 966 for mounted corn pickers and a Hi-Clear model were also available. In 1972 Ertl offered a 1/16 scale 966 as an open station model. In February 1991 Ertl re-released the 1/16 966 open station model as a 1976 black stripe model.
