5288

The 5288 was part of a new class of IH tractors introduced as the "New Number 1" in 1982.  The 160 hp 5288 traces its IH roots back in the power house class of IH tractors including the 160 hp 1566 introduced in 1975 and the 1586 introduced in 1977.  The 5288 was needed dual rear tires to put all of its power to work in the field.  This tractor was sized to fit many operations weather it working side by side with a large articulated 4wd or heading up a farm on its own. Ertl offered a 1/16 shelf edition 5288 in 1982 in a tan box that on average sells for $55 today.  Ertl also offered a collectors 5288 with fwa and rear fat singles in 1984. Only 24 units were shipped to each dealer and today sell for around $65.
