1566
In 1975 International Harvester answered farmers calls for more power in a row crop tractor. The answer was the 1566. The first 1566 models in 1975 featured a white side panel and a red cab with a white roof. The 161 hp 1976 International Harvester 1566 model had great styling with its red paint and International Power Stripe decal gave the big IH a spirited new look for 1976. Although the 1566 was big in every way it was built to handle like smaller row crop tractors. The 1566 was powered by an 436 cu. in. turbo charged diesel. Easy-shift dual range transmission gave the 1566 6 forward speeds or 12 with the TA included. Standard equipment on the 1566 included hydrostatic power steering, hydraulic power-actuated clutch, hydraulic full power wet disc brakes plus the deluxe safety cab with heater and air conditioner. In July 1991 Ertl released a 1/16 1566 with dual wheels, deluxe IH cab and 1976 decals. The 1566 was the 6th tractor in the 6 piece 66 series set that started in August 1990. Ertl also offered three 1/64 1566's, one with a cab and duals, one with 4 post ROPS and an open station model.
