International 1466
From 1971 to 1976 International Harvester offered the 140 hp 1466. The 1466 was powered by a 6 cylinder IH DT-436 engine. Introduced in 1971 the 1466 featured a new comfortable cab. From 1971 to 1973 the cab was white. From 1974 to 1976 the cab would be painted red red with a white roof. Model year 1974 would be the last year IH offered the name Farmall on the 1466. The 1976 1466 came with a black power stripe decal. The power that a 1466 brought to the farm pulling up to a 6 bottom plow easily earned it the nick name big red. Over 25,000 1466 tractors were produced by IH during the tractors 5 year run. Ertl first offered a 1/16 scale 1466 in 1972. It was a white cab model with duals in a blue box. Later models of the 1466 came in a red and white Blue Print Replica box pictured above. Ertl's first 1/64 IH toy was a 1466 with a white cab in 1974. This model is well known for its hook hitch. The original 1/64 1466 can bring $100 new in the box today. Also in 1974 Ertl offered a 1/25 scale plastic kit 1466. The Toy Farmer Magazine had a special 1466 made with 2 Post Canopy ROPS and duals, packaged in a red and white Blue Print Replica box. In September 1990 Ertl re-released a 1/16 scale 1466 with a 1974 paint scheme as the second model in a 6 piece 66 series collectors set. From march 1992 to May 1994 Ertl offered 9 1/64 collectors sets offering variations of the 66 series tractors in 4 piece sets. 9 1466 models were offered during this time with variations including set #1 with a White Cab model with duals, set #2 open station, set #3 2 Post Canopy ROPS, set #4 Deluxe Cab, set #5 Red Cab, set #6 4 Post ROPS, set #7 Black Stripe decal and Cab, set #8 Black Stripe decal with 4 Post ROPS and set #9 Black Stripe decal with Post Canopy ROPS. In November 2002 Ertl released a 1/16 Precision 1466 modeled after a 1971 version as its 18th CaseIH Precision Classic. This is the first Ertl Precision classic to offer dual tires.
