 The IH 1066 was a sound investment for thousands of farmers that need big power. Many 1066's are still going strong across America today. This strong IH tractor is a husky performer with its 414 cu. in. turbocharged diesel engine. The gear 1066 was originally rated at 116 hp and upgraded in the 1976 model year to 125 hp. The Hydro 1066 was rated at 113 hp.  Along with with plowing and other tillage operations, the 1066 was also well suited for planting, cultivating crops and haying.  An adjustment range of 60 to 84 inches was possible on the front axle, and the rear wheel tread could be shifted from 60 to 104 inches.  A Wheatland 1066 was also available. Ertl first offered a 1/16 scale 1066 in 1972. It was a white cab model with single rear wheels in a blue box.  Later models of the 1066 came in a red and white Blue Print Replica box pictured above. Ertl to kick of a 6 piece 66 series collectors set in August 1990 released the long awaited and requested 1/16 1066 painted with 5 million edition graphics that IH had originally considered offering to its dealers to promote the real model in 1974. This popular model will sell for around $125 today. From March 1992 to May 1994 Ertl offered 9 1/64 collectors sets offering variations of the 66 series tractors in 4 piece sets.  9 1066 models were offered during this time with variations including set #1 with 2 Post Canopy ROPS Turbo, set #2   open station Turbo, set #3 open station Hydro, set #4 4 Post ROPS Hydro, set #5 Deluxe Cab, set #6  4 Post ROPS, set #7 Black Stripe decal and with 2 Post Canopy ROPS, set #8 Black Stripe decal with open station and set #9 Black Stripe decal with Cab. In July 1994 a 1/64 special edition 1066 painted with 5 million edition graphics and it came with a gold coin.
