 Gordy Schultz

In the late 1980's Gordy Schutlz the owner of Toy Farmn' built a 1/64 lay out complete with a sweet corn processing plant. This display was shown at several farm shows from 1987-1989.  Considering the period this display was built in it is all that more impressive. It is still impressive today. The display shows typical summer work on the Wisconsin landscape.

In the early summer FMC Pea Harvesters roam the countryside picking peas in teams. These big machines strip the green peas from their vines, process them and shed the pods out the back.

Haying is a big summer chore in the dairy belt. Here we see an IH 5088 with fwa chopping hay. The 5088 has a mounted  Ghel windrow merger on the front and is pulling a tandem axel Ghel chopper and Ghel wagon.  The Ghel windrow merger was popular in the 1980's was a big time saver.

Another part of summer harvesting is corn silage. Here we see an IH 6388 pulling the Ghel chopper with a three row corn head. This farm was well equipped to cut green corn.

A popular way to store silage through the 1980's was in silo's. Ghel a popular full hay line produced silo blowers. Below a Minneapolis-Moline G-1000 powers the blower as the Ghel wagon pulled by a case 930 unloads. Sometimes farms chop straw rather than baling it.  In the second forage wagon picture we see two 1086's unloading and blowing chopped straw into the dairy barn for storage.

Wheat harvest is big part of summer. Here we see a Deutz-Allis Gleaner R50 hard a work. The Case 930 is on gravity wagon duty. The IH 6388 is plowing the wheat stubble under prepping the ground for a fall alfalfa planting.

The best part of Gordy's is his sweet corn processing plant. From July to September fleets of Byron pickers travel from field to field harvesting corn. The corn is trucked to a plant where it is dumped and pushed into the factory. Inside corn is husked, chopped and frozen or canned.  The husks and other green material are piled outside the plant where we see the John Deere bull dozer piling it. This pile will be fed out to local dairy farms.
