Here is the JD 6030. I wasn't really
intending to make one of these models because everybody tries it.
However, it just sort of happened one day and I liked the result. It
started out life as a 5020 (don't all 6030's?) and has been modified in these
ways:
Jason how are you today? I emailed you a
long, long time ago promising to send pictures of some of the custom 1/64th
equipment and tractors I've done here in Kenya. Things have been
incredibly busy and I just haven't had time to totally finish any projects -
mostly because I was waiting on JD yellow paint to come from the States.
No JD dealers here!
This one is a favorite because it
took a while to figure out and I've never seen another 1/64th 1010. It
has inspired me to figure out the 2010 next, which will be made with LP
tank. The mower is a George Nygren kit - all I did was paint and decal
it, but it goes great with this little tractor.
The 1010 started life as a 430.
It's hood was removed and the hood from the HO scale 4010 grafted on.
The smoke stack was added, an air filter located in the right place, and
front lights put on like the real one, though one doesn't appear in these
pictures. It's something different, anyway. I suppose other
configurations could be made as the 430 was produced in many different ways
I've finally finished a couple of things and
thought I'd pass them on to see if you are interested in posting them on the
website. I work almost exclusively with JD tractors and equipment from
the New Generation 1960-1972. I do have a couple of newer pieces of
equipment (like a single row 3pt JD forage harvester mounted on a cabless
4040) that I might send your way later on. For now, I've got three
pieces to show off.
The first project is a special one because it's a replica of the JD 3020 and JD 6100 cotton planter my dad and I used on our farm before I moved to Kenya. The tractor has been modified just like the real one: front weights, large front tires on wide axle, LP tank, toolbox, throttle, hydraulic, PTO, gearshift levers, roll-bar with lights, rear light, 3-pt with quick hitch. (and plenty of field dirt, too!)
The planter is my first attempt at a scratch build. It turned out fair for a 1st try. It's a 4-row 6100 cotton planter like many farmers in West Texas use. It's toolbar mounted with gauge wheels, drive wheels and individual planter units. They each have a front packer wheel, chisel opener/bed leveller, Accra-plant opener, press wheels and rear drag cover for our sandy soils. No markers are needed for bed-planting like we did.
The pictures of the real machine are in the background. Hope these are something that might be good on the website. I've really enjoyed TTS.com as it keeps me up to date on what's new and going on. I especially like the custom section - you just don't get much of that information any where else. Keep up the good work as I sure enjoy the newsletter every month.
