Bi-directional Tractor

"Here's the way to get more tractor work done without more tractors-- the
model 9030 Versatile Bi-directional tractor from Ford/New Holland." This 100
hp tractor keeps working regardless of direction of travel. Both ends can be
equipped with PTO, three point hitch and remote hydraulic couplers. That
means a farmer can push or pull implements at the same time at both ends. The
9030 above is pushing a field cultivator in front preparing the seed bed for
the 6 row corn planter mounted behind. A farmer can equip a 9030 with a 16
foot New Holland hay header from a windrower and tow a New Holland 116 mower
conditioner to cut hay 32 feet of hay in one pass in the morning, at noon
hook up a Ford front end loader for farm chores, and in the late after noon
use a New Holland 575 hayliner baler to bale the hay cut in the morning.
The seat and steering wheel are mounted on a unique Turnabout Console that
pivots 180 degrees. No matter what end of the 9030 is being used, the farmer
can pivot the consoles to face the work. The FORD 9030 and New Holland TV-140
that replaced it are true articulated tractors with full time four wheel
drive. The November 15, 1999 merger of Case Corp and New Holland has led to
the forced divestiture of the New Holland 4wd line formerly known as
Versatile. This sale of the 4wd will not include the Bi-directional tractor
made famous under the Versatile name. The TV-140, was not included in the
agreement that formed CNH GLOBAL and production will be moved to another
facility within the merged company and may be marketed in a future as larger
horse power model. It will be a new higher suspension articulating 4wd or as
International Harvester fans would call it a 2+2.
