Steiger COUGAR III Pounces On The Market

By 1978 with the introduction of the Series III Steigers, the Steiger cab was
wrapped from the window top to the bottom in a wide ribbon of flat black.
The new cab was marketed as the Ultra Quiet Safari cab. The Steiger body
was simplified with more visual strength and boldness. Farmers could breeze
through the longest day in the field with the new PTA automatic
transmission. Engines were now black and the bodies entirely lime green. The
280 hp Cougar pictured here is a good example of the "new look". The Cougar
was also popular seller in industrial and construction settings and the
Series III was also sold in Industrial Yellow for this purpose.
