In the fall of 2002 CaseIH will introduced the NeXt generation of Magnums.  Customer input and advanced technology have resulted in industry leading features on a tractor line with a strong heritage of quality and reliability dating back to 1987.  CaseIH is keeping the Magnum line ahead of the competition with a new suspended front axle, a high-capacity hydraulic system and a cushion hitch to take the bounce out of field work. Farmers are always looking for more power to pull larger implements to cover more acres and the new 240 hp MX 285 Magnum fills that order.   Many farmers looking for optimum power have found the MX 285 to be the machine for maximum productivity. Its 240 PTO hp. engine is extremely efficient, owing to the standard electronic fuel management system. Impressive hydraulic flow and lifting power means the MX285 is an ideal tractor for the heaviest implements.
All MX Magnum tractors can achieve 46 to 50 percent torqe rise at 1400 rpm when extra power is need to pull the tractor through but the MX 285 generates an additional 31 pto hp growth when under a heavy load bumping it up to a total of 271 hp, which comes in handy in hilly fields. The MX 285's spacious and quite CaseIH Surveyor cab is an industry leader at 109.5 cubic feet and 68.5 sq ft of glass giving a 360-degree panoramic view.  The MX 285 has seat options fit for royalty offering a deluxe air ride positive response heated red leather seat with an adjustable right hand armrest control console.  The MX 285 stays in the field longer with a standard 160 gallon fuel tank.  The MX 285 is a real row cropper with a 55-degree turn angle to allow for a tight turning radius of 17.4 ft.  The MX 285 can turn back on 12 rows with all axle configurations including front duals.  The new suspended MFD axles improve the MX 285's ride quality and traction efficiency. The new cushion ride hitch takes advantage of the MX 285's power and turning by reducing bouncing which improves tractor control with mounted implements.   Ertl will also updated their toy line of 1/64 Magnums. In September 2002 a Collectors Edition MX 285 with front duals and row crop spaced rear triples was released.
1/16 collectors will also have an MX 285 this fall to add to their shelves. The toy model of the new 240 hp model from CaseIH features MX 285 graphics as well as front and rear duals. New CaseIH Toys
