Golden Demonstrator

In, 1969, Case introduced a new series of tractors known as the Agri-King 70 series.  The tractors incorporated many new features; rubber mounted platforms for noise and vibration isolation, a choice of three cushioned operator seats with adjustable suspension, hydrostatic power steering as standard equipment, and non-metallic, rear-mounted fuel tanks for corrosion protection and improved visibility. To call even more attention to the 70 series line, Case dealers offered a special Golden Demonstrator to potential owners with a desert sunset, flambeau red and black paint scheme. During this time in the early 1970's Ertl produced a limited number of toy demonstrator tractors for Case. This model was based on a 1070 style frame. Today this original model will sell for over $1,000 new in the box. In the summer of 1996 Ertl and the Toy Farmer announced a Case 1170 with a Golden Demo paint scheme for the 1996 National Farm Toy Show. The 1170 featured new tooling; with die-cast wheel inserts, Agri-king seat and addtional work lights mounted on the cab. The 1170 was the first National Toy Show tractor to feature a gold medallion with every model. The medallion tradition started in 1999 but were only available with models offered before the July 15th order deadline. The original cost of a 1996 1170 Golden-Demo was $50. Today the average 96' 1170 brings $70.  In May of 2002 Ertl released another special Golden Demonstrator tractor. This model is a Collectors Edition 970 featuring single wheels and a cab.
