The Bearcat name was one of the first cat names used on the Steiger 4wd line. It was used from the Bearcat I to the Bearcat 1000. The Bearcat was a mid-sized 4wd, very useful in a variety of pulling and tillage tasks.
Ever wonder why Steiger's like the Bearcat were green. One story is that a large mining company in Minnesota had received a shipment of new equipment for their operation. The company ordered a light lime green shade of green to paint the new equipment. When the paint arrived the company was unhappy with the color and sent it back. Near by Steiger heard of the problem and took the paint to use on their growing tractor line.
