White's Rotary

White Combines trace their roots back to the Oliver combine line which was acquired by White Motor's in 1960. A pioneer in the rotary combine market White released the 9700  Harvest Boss in the late 1970's after 15 years of development in the lab and the field. This acre eating monster set new industry standards in size and capacity. The 9700 was powered by a 248 hp V-8 engine with a bin capacity of 265 bushels. The 9700's rotor runs straight through the combine with three auger flights at the rotor inlet, three threshing lobes with twin rasp bars for multiple pass threshing and the longest axial in the industry of the day at 67 inches. Farming in the in hot dusty or bone-chilling conditions were distant memories when a farmer stepped up to a White 9700. The cab allowed farmers to work in modern comfort with  47 sq. ft. of tinted safety glass, sound and dirt insulating padding, air conditioning and a logically arranged control panel. The 9700 was upgraded to a 9720 and remained in production until 1984 when White Farm Equipment sold its combine line to Massey Ferguson. Scale Models offered a 1/24 White 9700 Harvest boss in 1983.
