New International 4-Wheel Drive Tractors

The 7788 started out as a C&D models kit. John Esche completely rebuilt the front end from scratch, added handrails, lights as well as his own decals.

With proven IH engines, new operating comfort and convenience
features, plus added design refinements, the 330 hp 7788, 280 hp 7588, and 230
hp 7388 4-wheel drives were to bring a new level of performance, productivity,
and reliability to the field. The 7588 and 7788 were built with DV-800 IH engines, while the 7388 had the DTI-466 engine. Interestingly, the 2 big tractors "lost" 20 HP apiece due to IH slowing the engines down on them. The 4786 had 350 engine HP at rated speed of 2600RPM, the 4586 had 300 engine HP. The 7788 was rated 330 engine HP at 2400 RPM rated speed while the 7588 was rated at 280. They did have styling similar to the Series IV Steigers. They had the 20-speed transmission setup like the series IV Steigers instead of the 10-speed transmissions like the 43/45/4786 tractors. Unfortunately, IH's financial trouble led to
the sale of the company's 30% share of the Steiger Corporation to Deutz-Fahr KHG of Germany.  The release of these Super 70 articulated 4-wheel drives was
slated for 1982, because of the sale of Internationals supplier only 2 of these
models were sold. Two of each model was built, one with a 3 point hitch and one with out.

Craig Bush's 1/16 IH 7788. He used the under carriage of a John Deere 8640, a hood from a 5088. The 4wd features a 3-point hitch and quick coupler from Dakota Toys. The cab is made of plexi-glass.
