4955

In January 1989 in Palm Springs, California John Deere dealers were introduced to the 55 series 2wds. The 4955 toped the line line as the first John Deere 2wd tractor to top 200hp.  The new 7.6 liter engines proved to be highly fuel efficient. The 4955 set a new record for fuel efficiency at the Nebraska tractor tests.  The 4955 came with an ultra-deluxe 15-speed Power shift transmission, the Sound-Guard body had increased visibility and a hitch lift capacity as high as 10,00 lbs. Ertl offered a 1/16 4955 from 1989-1993. The Ertl 4955 was the first numbered John Deere offered as a standard shelf edition and came in single tires.
