4255
The 120 hp 4255 was a popular row crop tractor. The 55 series can be considered the best of the Sound Guard tractors. Ertl produced the 1/16 4255 from 1989 to 1992. The 55 series were not only a change for John Deere but also for Ertl's Replica John Deere 2wds. The 1/16 4255 featured the updated John Deere strobe decal with a model number in front and company name in yellow with a black background. The 4255 came with the new 3 head light sticker as well as tail light decals. Paint changes called for the lower portion of the cab frame to be painted black, along with the panel directly under each fender and behind the wheel. The black paint also had a new flat finish instead of gloss. Ertl also stopped using rivets to attach the roofs on the 55 series models. The 4255 was a revision of the generic row crop John Deere toy tractor. The major change besides the 55 styling updates was the new wider, rubber front tires and wider rear tires.
