2200 Field Cultivator

The 2200 field cultivator is designed to put large 4wd tractors like the John Deere 9400 4wd to work. This drawn field cultivator has the ability to work in trash, leaving a rough, erosion resistant surface. The 2200 comes standard with 150 pound shank's and an option is 200 pound shank's.  The 2200 replaced the 985 field cultivator.  The 2200 is offered in sizes  from 22 and 1/2 ft through 64 and 1/2 ft.
The field cultivator gained popularity in the 1960's. However, it did not enjoy long tradition dating back to horse-drawn implement days.  Its original main purpose was to prepare the seedbed in wheat country and control weeds in summer fallow ground. Between 1960 and 2000 the field cultivators popularity has grown immensely for preparing corn and soybean seed beds. In the spring of 2001 Ertl released a 42ft replica of the 2200 Field Cultivator for its 1/64 9400T and triple and dual tire 9400 4wds. John Deere offers field cultivators up to 5 sections  and  60ft.
